Nadina LaSpina

I've been having fun lately taking pictures of my body with and without my prostheses.
I never thought I'd want to do anything like this.

I always take the pictures myself.
Alone - the camera and I.
The eye of the camera sees me the way I want to be seen.
No one behind the camera with preconceived notions of tragedy and pity.

Later, at the computer, I can have more fun, I can laugh at myself,
laugh at those who think my life is tragic, my body pitiful...

I can make all memories of pain and shame fade away,
and feel proud of my difference...
