You have a beautiful face," they said, "what a shame!"
Even when they didn't actually say it, I heard it: "what a shame about the rest..."

My face... always assigned the difficult job of compensating for my disability.

Now, sinking deeper and deeper into the softness of middle age,
I want to rediscover my face... with a digital camera held at arm's length.
What better time than the night time?
What better setting than our terrace on the 21st floor,
with the city lights playing games of color and fire?
